Nestled in the heart of this beautiful lifestyle property, set amidst the Australian bush, is a professionally built, mud brick home designed by architect Marcus Ward. This environmentally friendly, energy efficient home with northerly aspect and sweeping verandas to all sides, captures the essence of a bygone era — the ambience being a mixture of ‘wilderness retreat’ and ‘country homeliness’.

Charming Home

The welcoming lounge room, with a combustion wood fire to keep you cosy on winter nights, features floor to ceiling windows which provide a fabulous view of the natural surrounds. This living area adjoins a dining area, plus a large, bright and airy kitchen, with plenty of cupboards for storage.

There are two large, double sized bedrooms, which both feature sliding doors to take you straight outside into the surrounding countryside. This home is serviced by a large tiled bathroom and excellent laundry.

With its high, 10 foot (3 metre) ceilings throughout, extensive use of timber and an open-plan layout, this house radiates a rustic, comfortable, homely feeling.

Self Contained

Sympathetic to its surroundings, the home boasts electricity supply via diesel generator with solar panel assist, wood combustion heating, plus LPG gas for the hot water and stove. A LPG gas / electricity powered refrigerator keeps everything cool in the kitchen.

Household water self sufficiency is achieved by way of two 5,000 gallon (20,000 litre) concrete rain water tanks.

An array of roof mounted aerials brings in TV and FM signals from the numerous metropolitan and country stations available. When the cricket is on in Melbourne, you can watch it in the comfort of home!

“Raydon” is the Australian bush retreat, tree-change opportunity you've only dreamed of.
